Search Tips
To use this Search page, you can enter a single word; or follow the tips below to refine your search and yield more specific results.
-
Look for a phrase.
For example: to find information on science lectures, simply type the exact phrase “science lectures”. The search is not case sensitive, so don’t worry about capitalizing words.
-
Look for two or more words at once by using the “AND” operator.
For example: type “science AND lectures” to find documents that have both the word “science” and the word “lectures”. -
Look for words that are close to each other by using the “NEAR” operator instead of the “AND” operator. When you use “NEAR”, the closer together the words appear on the page, the higher the page will rank in the list of search results.
For example: type “science NEAR lectures” to match documents where the term “science” is within 50 words of the term “lectures”.
-
Look for synonyms or similar words by using the “OR” operator. If you do not use the “OR” operator when searching for multiple words, the words are treated as a phrase.
For example: type “lions OR tigers” to retrieve pages that include either the word “lions” or the word “tigers”, but not necessarily both.
-
Limit your search by using the “AND NOT” operator to exclude words.
For example: type “surfing AND NOT the Internet” to find information on “surfing” that does not include surfing the Internet.
