Terrestrial Research Permit

This permit is required for Terrestrial Observation / Collection / Marking

Please take note that the requested information should not be too technical, but instead, should provide information related to the purpose of your research.

If you can send the information in spanish, this will expedite the processing of your permit.

Permits to collect, import or export wildlife from the Republic of Panama, as well as to conduct a scientific investigation throughout the Republic of Panama, will be granted provided the applicant submits the following information to the National Authority of the Environment (A.N.A.M.) PLEASE FILL IN THE FORM COMPLETELY DO NOT LEAVE BLANKS.

Send curriculum vitae and two (2) passport size picture of each person to arosemo@si.edu.

If you have carried out research and/or collection previously in Panama, please submit a Spanish report of the result of your research, reprint or publication including abstract in Spanish. Please send these documents as PDFs to arosemo@si.edu. If you do not comply with this requirement, ANAM will not process the new application.

Environmental impact of study, if any (brief description of what changes or alterations will be made)

If you have not carried out research and / or collection previously in Panama, please send a copy of scientific paper previously published on this subject to arosemo@si.edu.

Important Note: One sample of each specimen collected must be deposited as a voucher at the University of Panama, the depositary for ANAM. Only species which are not endangered can be collected.

A Spanish progress report must be sent to ANAM within a year. The resulting publication must also be sent as soon as it is published.
