General information
- If you plan to do research in Gamboa Pipeline or Old Gamboa Road do not fill this application because blanket permits are available at the Visitor Services Office.
- Be sure to apply two months in advance of your expected arrival.
- It is a host country requirement to provide a copy of any publication or reproduction including an abstract in Spanish, after completion of your study.
- Proper acknowledgments should be made in the publication to authorities facilitating the research.
- If any collected material turns out to belong to a taxon new to science, you should deposit a reasonable amount in STRI or in any other scientific center or proper national authority.

- Failure to comply with these regulations will adversely affect future authorization and research permits or collections to be exported by you and/or your colleagues.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUBMIT
- Protocol of the investigation, that should include
- Principal Investigator’s name
- Research assistant/s name/s
- Nationality/ies
- Passport number/s
- Title of Research Project
- STRI sponsor/advisor
- Copy of passport/s of each participant
- Resume / of each participant
- Briefing of the study in Spanish (if the application is in English)
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
Your description should not be too technical. Be explicit about any possible environmental impact. Minimum 4 or 5 pages
Include
- General objective
- Duration of the project
- Justification
- Methodology
- Place or area where the study will take place
- Describe area and send a map attached to this application. Mandatory
- Source of funds (if STRI Scientist)
- How the collection will be made
- Itinerary/Working schedule of field trip– dates and sites to be visited
- Samples collected - scientific and common names
- Describe any field marks and equipment that will be placed in the field and state when they will be situated and removed.
- Any other information you may consider relevant of the project
